Illuminating York

Wed 26 to Sat 29 Oct

Illuminating York is now in its seventh year, using modern lighting and projection technologies to celebrate the city’s unique architecture and history.

Taking place each October, the Festival draws more than 60,000 people to the city, and has created specially commissioned digital artworks on many of the city’s historic buildings, including York Minster, The Yorkshire Museum and the Bar Walls, as well as churches across the city centre.

In 2011, Illuminating York heads to The Eye of York for the very first time, with a large scale, ethereal projection on the imposing facade of the 18th century former womens’ prison at The Castle Museum.

With the added opportunity to visit other famous sites in the city at nights or attend one of the many fringe events, Illuminating York offers visitors of all ages the chance to see York in a different light.

For more information about the festival, please call 01904 550099,

You can also visit the Festival Information Tent at the Eye of York from 4pm each day during the festival.
